Ysabella Brave

Last year I ran across an extremely talented young entertainer named Ysabella Brave on YouTube. She turned her singing popularity on YouTube into a recording contract. Her first CD should be coming out soon, and I’m sure that her YouTube fans are anxious to hear it. I know that I am.

Ysabella sings a lot of old songs, which I usually don’t like, but she has a certain charisma about her. She also has written a number of original songs, all of which are very unique. She isn’t just a singer though. In response to many of the comments she received trying to give her advice, she made a comedic video. This video was so popular that she made a series of comedic videos with several different characters all created and played by Ysabella. Her ability to play so many characters reminds me of Eddie Murphy. Except for a few short appearances by her cats and a few other people, she has done everything herself. But that’s not all she does! She also gives advice, and pretty good advice at that. Her range of talent it remarkable.

She has two profiles on YouTube:ysabellabrave (for her songs and entertainment) and ysabellabravetalk (for advice videos, status updates, etc). One thing that is interesting that won’t be immediately obvious by looking at her is that she comes from Native American ancestry, which she mentions in some of her videos. You can read more about Ysabella Brave on her Wikipedia entry.

I have made a few playlists of the videos I like. Check them out. I like the skits the best. She is hilarious!

If you are new to YouTube, I recommend making the videos full screen by clicking on the little square in the lower right corner of the video area. Some of the newer videos have a “high quality” mode. I also recommend using headphones.

Enjoy!

  2. Old songs that you don’t really like? Jazz standards are awesome! Ysabella really embodies that lost art of jazz vocalism in some smokey lounge, which is why I love her. She belongs to be with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Julie London, and Peggy Lee. I missed out on that era being born in 1990. If you’ve ever seen the movie Chicago, Ysabella is a real life Roxie Hart.
